Funny story. In middle school, I was caught cheating on a test. It was a test on a book I had not read, because at that time, I didn’t even enjoy reading. That moment completely changed my life. Sure, I got in trouble, but it pushed me to open a book and see what I was missing, finally.

Once I started reading, I discovered a whole new world. No one knew that both my parents were sexually abusing me. Reading became my escape. The books that drew me in were about witches and from the Sweet Valley High series. I felt as if I were one of the twins in Sweet Valley High.

I wanted to know, “What magical power did they have? How did they get their power?“ And, “Were they a good witch or a bad witch?“

I grew up loving Christopher Pike’s Sati because it felt new and fresh. On TV, I was hooked on shows and books about magic and the paranormal, including those about being psychic. I loved Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Charmed, The Good Witch, and especially Medium, because I had similar experiences to those of Allison. I also loved watching movies like Practical Magic, which made me dream.

But my love of books goes beyond just magic. I also love romcoms, romance novels, and historical romance. Johanna Lindsay was one of the historical romance authors I adored, sweeping me away into passionate and dramatic worlds. And in more recent years, I have fallen for the kind of romance that hits just right. Abby Jimenez writes romcom books with so much heart, humor, and raw emotion that they stay with you long after the last page.

Magic is everywhere. We need to slow down so we can see it. The divine is always around us and shows itself to you in the most amazing ways and coincidences.
